Multi Mission Launcher for U.S. Army
Challenge
Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC) Program led by the U.S. Army needed the experience and expertise that Trust Automation had delivered to the U.S. Military previously in being able to lift, level and rotate heavy equipment for missile launching. The equipment needed to be capable of extremely precise positioning, at a rapid pace, in very rugged environmental conditions.
Solution
Trust Automation brought their dynamic and innovative engineering capabilities to support military programs in today’s complex and unconventional battlefields.
The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) is the lead developer on this program. The developing result is a truck based system that can be fixed or semi-fixed and will hold 15 launch tubes which can be fired simultaneously at numerous different threats. MML provides 360 degree protection and is capable of targeting unmanned aircraft, cruise missiles, artillery, mortars and rockets.
Results
Trust Automation is developing the elevation controller system for the MML, providing precise electronic control. The Trust Automation controller interfaces with a heavy duty electro-mechanical actuation system, to provide motion control to the MML elevation axis. The use of digital signal processing (DSP) technology and complex proprietary algorithms enable synchronous control for the dual actuation system required to raise and lower the MML pallet.
